So today I'm going to teach you how to make a little tool you can use to improve your compositions. My art teacher taught me how to make this out of cardboard but you can use whatever material you have laying around or take the expensive route and buy one at your local art supply store.
Materials You Need:
Materials You Need:
- Cardboard or any other reasonably durable material

Step Two
Cut out the pieces with your X-acto knife or scissors carefully.
Step Three
Look through the different square shapes these two pieces can create together by moving them against each other. You can have a perfect square an elongated rectangle, whatever composition work well.
You can challenge yourself with this as well. See if you can make three different and interesting compositions from one vantage point. This is a very easy little project and it will improve your work immensely. Remember to establish a background, middle-ground, and foreground. I hope you find this helpful in your artistic endeavors. Feel free to share with me any other DIY art tool projects you've found helpful or let me know how this has effected your work!
